I think that the criptoliths are being used to create an interplainar portal, it certainly looks like one in the art.
It certainly seems that way! We can’t wait to find out.
You fools! It’s not Phyrexia, the Eldrazi, Nicol Bolas or Marit Lage. It’s Tamiyo. Why was her Journal found in Markov Manor where Jace could find it? She manipulated Nahiri into building the Cryptoliths which distorted Avacyn, which disrupted the Cursemute, allowing her to further study the Eldritch Moon’s effects on Innistrad. Boom solved!
